Compensation: Huntertown has four classifications for outside utility workers with a varying pay scale that ranges from starting at $23.88/hour (with water/wastewater/CDL licenses) to $17.00/hour (no license). Pay scales are increased with years of service. 

General Job Duties for all positions:  Any task related to the utility department to include but not limited to the following:

Daily testing and lab work, cleaning and inspection of floats, maintenance of control box. Record lift station “run” hours. Have an understanding of the sewer metering stations. Inspect and test all new sewer lines. Locate sewer mains. Maintenance of sewer main. Repairing any water related issue, including leaks & water main breaks and assisting the Water and Street Utility which may include: Inspection and testing of new water lines, Flushing hydrants, Repairing hydrants, Locating water mains, Locating and marking residential water shut offs, Locating and marking main water valves, Read water meters (monthly) in a timely and accurate manner, Replace water meters, Operate street sweeper, Patch roads and streets, Repair and replace signs, Snowplow when needed, Tree trimming as needed, and general grounds and vehicle maintenance such as: Remove trash along roadway in preparation for mowing, Mow and trim grass as instructed, Spray for weeds, Fall leaf pick up, Vehicle Maintenance. 

All Utility Persons must: Possess a valid driver’s license, Not be convicted of a felony, Possess good communication skills, Have good organizational skills, Practice good hygiene, Be physically able to perform job functions, Be able to work well with others, Be able to problem solve, Be dependable.

Utility positions are subject to After Hour Stand-by and Call-out pay and Overtime as needed.  Full time positions are offered medical, dental and life insurance. Normal work hours are Monday-Friday from 7 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.   Huntertown is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Education and Experience:  Applicant must possess a high school diploma or equivalent; a valid Indiana Driver’s License; and be able to pass a background check and drug and alcohol screening. Previous experience in a municipal utility setting is preferred. Indiana issued Wastewater licenses is a plus.
