Outside Sales Position –

Waller’s Meter, Inc, of Madison, Indiana, is accepting resumes for an immediate position as an outside salesperson for its southwestern Indiana territory. Waller’s Meter, established in 1982, is a water & sewer supply distributor whose primary focus is the municipal utility market. Our product lines include Badger water meters, Ford Brass, M&H/Kennedy valves & hydrants, Tyler/Union & Sigma ductile iron fittings, ADS/Hancor HDPE pipe and numerous other major manufacturers in the industry. We operate from a 40,000 square foot facility in Madison, Indiana.

 

The outside sales position requires travel in the southwestern area of Indiana, roughly located west of I-65 and south of I-70. An outside sales person: travels from their home M-F within their assigned territory, meeting with established & prospective customers; attends several in-state trade conferences annually (sometimes staying overnight); attends out-of-state training sessions & conferences (overnight, sometimes up to a week); conducts on-site sales presentations to city councils, boards, engineers & municipal officials; provides technical support to customers with Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) systems.  The outside salesperson has daily reporting requirements & mandatory monthly sales meetings in Madison.

 

Previous sales experience and experience in the water/sewer industry is preferred, but not required. Candidates for this position must be willing to learn all aspects of our product lines and the needs of their assigned accounts. Critical qualities and aptitudes are: a high comfort level with technology, i.e. smart phones, email, text, computers, etc.; a positive attitude, an even temperament conducive to a sales environment; the ability to communicate verbally and in writing in a professional manner; basic math skills. We seek individuals who are self-starters with a conscientious work ethic. Because extensive driving is involved, candidates must have a clean driving record.

 

Waller’s Meter will provide the following: In-house & in-the-field training; specialized out-of–state training (on water meters & AMR technology) by Badger Meter; a sales vehicle & all gas & maintenance; a meals & entertainment budget; a cell phone, a laptop, business cards and other necessary sales supplies.

 

Compensation: Base salary (commensurate with experience) & commission. Health Insurance (currently Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield Health Savings Account) with Vision Coverage & Life Insurance. AFLAC is also available. Details of insurance & Paid Time Off (PTO) will be explained during the interview.
