The 2025 Indiana Rural Water Day was held at the Indiana Statehouse on January 29, 2025. Attendees gathered from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM for an engaging day that connected industry professionals with legislators in a relaxed and informal setting. Participants enjoyed a catered lunch while engaging in constructive discussions about their community's water and wastewater needs. There was a focus on upcoming legislation impacting rural communities, fostering collaboration and advocacy for the future.
Following a day of advocacy, attendees gathered at The Slippery Noodle in downtown Indianapolis on Wednesday evening for a lively networking event. The evening was filled with food, drinks, live music, and camaraderie, providing an opportunity for conversation and professional connections in a more informal setting. The event set the stage for the following day's in-depth educational sessions.
On January 30, 2025, the focus shifted to education and industry leadership at the Utility Leadership & Legislative Summit. Held at the Biltwell Event Center, this exclusive event was tailored for water and wastewater industry decision-makers. Attendees could earn up to six general water and wastewater hours or PDH credits while participating in high-impact sessions addressing pressing industry challenges.
The day's agenda featured expert panels and discussions on topics such as legislation, cybersecurity, communications, and obtaining information from senior staff. The event also hosted roundtable discussions to encourage open lines of communication and brainstorming among participants.
During the luncheon, IFA provided updates, and attendees witnessed the First Regional Water Taste Test, presented by Wessler Engineering. The City of Fort Wayne emerged as the winner.
The Utility Leadership & Legislative Summit reinforced the importance of continued education, advocacy, and collaboration within the water and wastewater industry. Through meaningful discussions and knowledge-sharing, attendees gained valuable insights to navigate the evolving landscape of rural water management.
