Wastewater Treatment Plant Laborer / Operator
Town of Syracuse, Indiana Public Works Department has an immediate opening for a full time Wastewater Treatment Plant Laborer / Operator to assist in operations at the wastewater plant. Qualified candidates must have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED. Semi-skilled maintenance work experience working at wastewater utility is desired but not required. Experience working with power & hand tools is a plus. The applicant must be able to work outside in any type weather. Must be able to work 24 hour callout duties. Applicant must have an Indiana driver’s license with a good driving record. CDL “B” license is required at time of hire or the ability to obtain one within 90 days after hire date.
Duties would include, but not be limited to: lift-station monitoring and maintenance; collection system inspections & maintenance; wastewater treatment plant equipment operation & maintenance including sludge press operations; water sample collections; lab testing & recording, adjusting treatment processes, general labor; utility, locating.
This is a full-time day shift position with some revolving on-call responsibilities. Must be available to work weekends and holidays as needed.
