Energy Efficiency Circuit Rider - Alliance of Indiana Rural Water

Job Description:

This position will require statewide travel. The role of the Energy Efficiency Circuit Rider is to support the association’s goals and objectives related to assisting rural and small community water and wastewater utility systems in evaluating their energy needs, consumption and costs; recommending measures to reduce energy consumption; and identifying potential funding sources for improvements. The Energy Efficiency Circuit Rider is required to travel to systems working on-site to perform energy efficiency assessments and to assist the utility in developing an energy efficiency plan for the future. This position requires general knowledge in utility operations, engineering and building trades.

Other typical duties and responsibilities will/can include:

  • Comply with all Federal Contract Requirements.
  • Performance of Energy Efficiency Assessments, preparing results and presentations to utility systems.
  • Training planning and instructing a minimum of two (2) on-site Sustainable Utility Management training events annually.
  • Weekly and monthly activity reports as well as developing annual operating plan.
  • Promotional activities for functions and trainings and promote membership in the Alliance.
  • Planning weekly travel (some overnight travel required).

Job Requirements

Education and licensing:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Prior certification credential in energy efficiency audits/assessments or ability to obtain this certification within first quarter of employment.
  • All candidates must possess a valid Indiana Driver’s License, reliable transportation and insurance.

Personal Qualities

  • Team player.
  • Basic computer skills in Microsoft applications such as word and power point.
  • Great communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Dynamic and positive can do attitude.
  • Ability to work independently without supervision.
  • Comfortable in public speaking and experience facilitating meetings.
  • Comfortable in a training role either onsite or in a formal classroom environment.
  • Ability to research issues and challenges as they might apply to utility systems operation and management related to energy efficiency.
